BENEFITING: Pittsburgh Urban Christian School (PUCS)
EVENT: 2017 Picking up with PUCS
EVENT DATE: Apr 28, 2017
Our 13th annual fundraiser, Picking Up With PUCS (PUWP), is just one week away!
This exciting adventure of service to our community that the Lord has so graciously placed us in has proven in the past to be our most successful opportunity to raise money for general school support and scholarship.
The purpose of the Picking Up with PUCS is twofold:
1) Our students, staff and volunteers will serve the community by picking up litter in Wilkinsburg, thereby preventing it from entering the Nine Mile Run Watershed. We have been asked to concentrate the pick up along the route of the national Main Street conference (taking place on 5/1 in our city and borough!) and on Stoner Way where the Center for Civic Art will be installing civic art and planters on 4/29. In addition to collecting trash, some students will work with NMRWA to do tree pit care and create interpretive signs for a vacant lot garden. As part of Wilkinsburg's Local Government Week, some students will assist the Wilkinsburg Historical Society, and the 8th graders will participate in the Borough's Student Government Day.
2) We will raise much needed funds for general school support and for our scholarship fund. While the Development Office does this excellently, year-round, this is the only opportunity that we really ALL get to rally behind PUCS and share our vision. This school year, PUCS awarded $365,000 in financial aid; without it, many of our students could not have attended PUCS.
Would you consider coming alongside of the Adams's kids and help us raise our goal of $3000?
PS: There is an additional 10% fee donating through Crowdrise, if you would rather evade that fee, feel free to donate through PayPal at www.pucs.org/support/donate and if you don't want to use a credit card, you may mail your gift to my attention at Pittsburgh Urban Christian School, 809 Center St., Pittsburgh PA 15221.
