Last August I ran the Hood-to-Coast Relay race to raise funds to create a physical education program for the children of Foster Elementary School in Compton, California. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we were able to offer lacrosse instruction to 150 4th and 5th graders for three hours a week taught by two dedicated coaches for the entire 2014-15 academic year. We also provided equipment for all 150 children, full gear for 30 boys and girls as well as a shed to store their equipment. As a result of the students’ love for the program, we’ve extended it through the summer with Sunday morning classes.
I am committed to continuing this program, given the positive influence it has had on the students and the community. To that end, I humbly ask for your support in raising funds for another academic year and to potentially expand the program to Whaley Middle School so the outgoing 5th graders can continue with the sport! On December 6th of this year, I will run the California International Marathon in Sacramento, a personal challenge that hopefully inspires you to donate. To further challenge myself, I will attempt to qualify for the Boston Marathon, which will require me to run eight minutes faster than I ever have, four years since my last marathon!
I would be incredibly grateful for whatever you can donate and as I stated last year 100% of your contributions go to funding for the program.
I appreciate your support.
