First of all, thank you for reading this. This is my fundraising page to raise money for the International OCD Foundation to help them continue their great work. For someone who knows first hand the obstacles that come with being diagnosed with OCD, I couldn't be more honored to lead a team in June to walk with others and shed light on this disorder, correct all misunderstandings, and raise money to help the foundation asssisting others who have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
What is OCD?
"Obsessions are involuntary intrusive thoughts, images or impulses that can cause unbearable worry, fear or discomfort. To cope with the obsessions, the person who has OCD has to perform mental or physical acts called compulsions." - OCD Education Station
Everyone is different, as there are different obsessions (many in fact) such as contamination, intrusive sexual thoughts, fear of harming self or others, fear of losing control, and perfectionsim. The most important factor some don't realize is that indivduals who suffer from these obsessions usually know how unnatural their thought process is and how ridiculous they act, but feel they have to act compulsively anyway.
Thank you for taking the time to check out this page even if you can't donate I appreciate you reading this!
