I am so excited to represent the Town of Hopkinton's Tax Relief Committee while training for the 2016 Boston Marathon!
This committee oversees the Elderly and Disabled Tax Relief Fund which was established to provide financial assistance to elderly or disabled Hopkinton residents of low income in the payment of their property taxes. Many of these individuals live on fixed incomes and without the help of this fund, would be unable to afford to stay in the homes they have lived in for most of their lives as a result of the increases in property taxes in recent years.
In the past, annual contributions to this fund have averaged about $5,500. However, in recent years contributions have decreased significantly, making it increasingly difficult to offer relief to the people who need it the most. This fund is supported solely by donations which is why I am committed to reaching my $5,000 fundraising goal. Any contribution, no matter how large or small, will go directly towards assisting these elderly or disabled residents of Hopkinton to stay in their homes.
Thank you for supporting me and the Town of Hopkinton's Tax Relief Committee as I train to run 26.2 miles on April 18th!
