I'll be running this campaign through December 15th!!

One of the things Trump wants to accomplish in his first 100 days is to "suspend immigration from terror-prone regions where vetting cannot safely occur. All vetting of people coming into our country will be considered extreme vetting." This sounds sane, but it's not. Refugees already face such a difficult time getting to a safe home. It takes years for refugees to move from a refugee camp to a new home, and along the way they are interviewed multiple times by multiple government agencies about their experience, who they know, what political ideas they have, why they left, etc. all of which must be very difficult considering what they have been through. The fact that we may be looking in the faces of women, children, the young, the old, the sick, the hardworking, the scared, and the determined and denying them hope of finding a new, safe home here is despicable to me. We would be denying those who need help at a time when the number of people fleeing their homes for safety has reached a level comparable to that after the Second World War. Humanitarian assistance and refugee resettlement is not political. It is an exercise in human decency. However, due to the politicalization of this issue, now is the time when your help is most needed.
The International Rescue Committee works on the ground in building and maintaining refugee camps and they also help refugees resettle, either in a new place or, hopefully, in their own country. It is an organization that has been dedicated to helping refugees and those affected by crisis for 83 years, leading the way from harm to home. Please give what you can, learn more about the IRC, and speak up to tell others about how important it is to help refugees.
