As most of you probably know, I typically run just to maintain my sanity (aka not for competitive satisfaction), but I recently read about a road race called Run 10 Feed 10 that inspired me to sign up and raise some money for a very important cause: hunger.
I like to make jokes about wanting to be skinny and of course we all are guilty of dramatically exclaiming "I'm starving!" when our tummy slightly rumbles, but the reality is this is a serious issue affecting millions of people across the country.
According to FEED, the organization behind Run 10 Feed 10, right now there are 49 million Americans going hungry - they don't know when they will get their next meal. That's one in six American children, which is a concerning statistic if you ask me. The good news is that there IS enough food in the world today for everyone to get the nourishment they need for a healthy and productive life.
Hunger is the world’s most solvable problem.
With that being said, please join me in supporting this important cause by donating to my fundraiser. I will be running in the Run 10 Feed 10 race on September 21st, covering 10K (6.2 miles) along New York City's west side. FEED is asking each race participant to raise $100, which will instantly provide 10 meals for those going hungry in local and surrounding neighborhoods. All of the money raised will benefit the FEED Foundation.
To date, FEED has been able to donate over $6 million and provide nearly 60 million school meals globally. FEED has also supported nutrition programs around the world, providing vitamin supplements to over 3.5 million children. Pretty influential stuff.
Thank you in advance for your support. Together we can make a difference!
