EVENT DATE: May 21, 2016
I was raised in and out of foster care until I was 16, and I was finally adopted! While I was not fortunate to have a CASA growing up, I understand the benefits an advocate can provide.
Every day in California, more than 88 children enter foster care, having experienced the grave injustice of abuse or neglect. All too often they get lost in the system and their critical needs go unmet. I want to change this.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), a national volunteer movement, began in 1976. Today, close to 1,000 CASA programs serve children in 49 of our 50 states. Today, CASA volunteers change lives, one foster child at a time.
For my birthday, I'd like to raise money for California CASA because this organization serves more than 8,000 volunteers who advocate for 11,000 foster youth. By 2020, I want to see this number to 20,000. Every donation of any amount can make a difference. Thank you!
