BENEFITING: CHILDRENS HOSPITAL & RESEARCH CENTER AT OAKLAND
EVENT DATE: Oct 29, 2017
DAYS TO GO: 40
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
On October 29th, I will be competing in the Marin County Olympic Distance Triathlon. I will be racing to raise money for UCSF Children’s Hospital Oakland and need your help to reach my goal of 5,000 dollars! Donations big or small are greatly appreciated. I will be donating to this hospital with the hope to change the lives of children and their families, the way it changed mine.
As you may already know, Stephanie my younger sister was diagnosed with medulloblastoma (a rare aggressive form of brain cancer) in 2011. Her life and my family were saved with the help of the extraordinary doctors, nurses, and friends of this hospital. Stephanie is doing amazing and has been in remission for over three years now! This personal challenge and fundraising goal are one way I want to thank Children’s Hospital and try and pay it forward.
This challenging Olympic distance event which is much longer and harder than anything I have tried before will be USA triathlon sanctioned for professional, elite, celebrity and amateur athletes. It consists of 1.5k (approximately a mile) of swimming, 36k (22 miles) of biking, and a 10k (6 mile) run. The swim will take place in San Pablo Bay, the bike will be through the mountains of China Camp State Park, and the run will be along the coast of San Francisco Bay. My training has already started (as of April) and will continue up until the race.
Those of you that know me know that I will give everything that I have to this. I am not a great swimmer, biker or runner but I give everything I have when committed. I am commit to this and I ask that you join me. I ask you to give and I ask you to share this goal with anyone you feel is right to ask. Nothing could drive me harder than the desire to help the kids in that hospital.
I will pay for all the expenses and fees. Every penny I raise goes to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. I will share my progress in training and fundraising along the way for those interested in following my progress.
