The Richmond District YMCA is a unique cause. When you support the Y as a campaigner or donor, you are actually contributing to your community! Your support benefits the daily lives of those with whom you share this neighborhood. At the Richmond District YMCA, we believe that everyone deserves to live a life of health, connection, and fulfillment. Stand with us by becoming a campaigner in our “Calories for a Cause” team. Sign up, set a fundraising and fitness goal, and reach out online to solicit sponsorships of those people in your life who share your value of community and want to support you in your pursuit of a healthy lifestyle. WHAT IS "CALORIES FOR A CAUSE", AND HOW CAN I HELP?
Calories for a Cause is a team of the Richmond District YMCA’s Annual Giving Campaign made up of facility members, volunteers, and staff who are committed to burning some serious calories over 6 weeks (starting November 3rd and finishing December 14th) while also raising funds to help support our community programs. You can support a Calories for a Cause team member by clicking on the orange DONATE button on the upper right corner of this page. Your donation will go straight to the Richmond District YMCA for our community programs to put to use helping people grow, improve their health, and contribute to our community. Your donation will also show up on your team member's page as a show of support for them reaching their fitness and fundraising goals.
LEVELS OF COMMITMENT
Calories for a Cause team mebers have committed to one of the following goal levels:
BRONZE - Commit to raising at least $100 and burning 7,000 calories.
SILVER - Commit to raising at least $250 and burning 10,000 calories.
GOLD - Commit to raising at least $500 and burning 13,000 calories.
You can support them by donating a flat amount of your choosing directly from this page by clicking on the orange DONATE button on the upper right. You can also sponsor them in their fitness goals by sponsoring them at a per-calorie rate.
THE IMPACT OF YOUR GIFT
We combat social ills by supporting the very foundations of community through Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. Your gift helps us have a meaningful impact in Strengthening the Foundations of Community:
Adults who work out at our Y with our personal trainers aren't just looking better on the beach. They are:
- Reducing stress
- Feeling happier
- Building relationships
- Having more energy for their family
- Staying healthy
Youth who attend LEAP (Learning and Enrichment Afterschool Program) aren't just in a safe place afterschool while their parents work to provide for their family. They are:
- Becoming more resilient
- Making friends and becoming a part of their community
- Learning to give back and contribute
- Building social and life skills that will last them a lifetime
Seniors who volunteer for our Foodbank aren’t just supplying food to individuals and families in need. They are:
- Staying active
- Feeling needed and valuable
- Staying connected to a community
- Finding purpose
Each of these impacts are small in and of themselves, but together they strengthen the social fabric that makes this the kind of community we dream of for ourselves and our families.
