Priviledge, a young woman from the Umzingwane District of Zimbabwe, is currently enrolled in her A-level studies after passing eight of her O-level exams last year. One of seven children in her family, she began receiving a scholarship from Camfed in 2012 after she was forced to drop out of school for lack of money. Priviledge explains, “The emotional stress I suffered from being sent out of school has been taken off my shoulders. I can wish and dream again and this makes me so grateful.”
Priviledge’s past academic successes already represent incredible achievement and opportunity! She and her colleagues are part of only 20% of students in Zimbabwe to pass the necessary exams to continue to A-level, with an even lower percentage for rural girls.
$450 per student will cover school and exam fees, stationery, uniforms and sanitary protection for two years. Give today and celebrate what these 22 girls have achieved so far, and all they can accomplish with this next level of education!
