EVENT DATE: July 24-26
FUNDRAISING DEADLINE: August 26, 2015
Our Honored Hero:
On July 20, 2015, in the passing of Amber Curtis-Pratcher, the Curtis and Pratcher families, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, her friends and colleagues lost a precious soul.
Intelligent, beautiful, loyal, loving, passionate, talented, and accomplished are only a few of the attributes that can be used to describe Amber.
She loved her husband and son totally and completely. She was a social justice warrior who fought for change not only in her own community, but for any community in which injustice occurred. She was a mentor to countless women through her participation in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated where she held many leadership roles and was an instrumental part of creating a social media platform for the sorority which propelled the organization to new heights. She worked toward expanding the visual presence of Divine 9 greek lettered organizations online. She was a technological innovator and was well respected in her field. Amber achieved all of this while living with epilepsy.
We raise these funds to support research to understand and find a cure for epilepsy.
As a family, we need to work as one to raise awareness and to fund research that will lead to a cure. 65 million people around the world live with epilepsy. That doesn’t include the tens of millions of family members and friends who are also impacted by the disorder. Think of the power we have when we all work toward a common mission.
Honored Hero: Since birth, Livy has been plagued by the damaging effects of epilepsy. She has endured multiple major brain surgeries but the seizures persist. What started as one neighborhood lemonade stand to raise money in honor of Livy is expanding into a global campaign. It continues to grow because of Livy's twin sister Hailey and the special bond the girls share, a mother's love and a father's promise made long ago. Help us have lemonade stands in every state and around the globe.
Our goal is to raise $100,000. Every lemonade stand counts!
Lemonade for Livy is an initiative that raises epilepsy awareness and research funding for the Epilepsy Foundation. The event occurs yearly over the course of the fourth weekend in July. It is an effort that brings people from around the world together to give hope to those with epilepsy and their families that new treatments will be discovered.
10-year-old Olivia Scheinman (Livy) is the inspiration and symbol behind Lemonade for Livy, a movement created by her family’s organization, Livy’s Hope.
