Two meetings down and things are really starting to flow together. I am so impressed with how many people are contacting me wanting to be a part See More

Camp Hope Louisiana is a project that is being started from the ground up by a group of people that have a passion and drive to help others. All members involved all work with a variety of individuals trying to make a difference. We advocate for others everyday in the foster care system, juvenile justice system, and even in developmental facilities. As one of the founding members of this group, I was inspired to start a program for at risk youth in honor of my daughter. I found myself several years ago parenting a child that was not only mentally ill but suffering from a disorder that thrived on negative attention and the thrill of breaking the law. I discovered quickly that there were not any options for someone like me or my daughter, unless it was jail or boot camp. The resources were just not there for someone with a combination of problems. From age 15-18 she was moved from place to place and every experience was worse than the one before. Once she turned 18, the options became fewer and more costly. As a single parent, I felt helpless. There was nothing out there for her or anyone else like her. "Over 50% of young people in shelters and on the streets report that their parents told them to leave or knew they were leaving and didn't care." This is where I tell you that I cannot stand by anymore and watch another teenager go through what my daughter went through. She is still out there somewhere thinking that this life is what she deserves, and she is not alone in this feeling of helplessness. "About 80% of homeless youth (aged 12-21) use drugs or alcohol as a means to self-medicate to deal with the traumatic experiences and abuse they face." The CAMP HOPE vision: to house 16 youths in a camp setting. Offering education, horticulture therapy, group and family counseling, self expression through art therapy, mentoring, job and skills training, and HOPE for a positive and rewarding future. CAMP HOPE staff want to be able to show teens that their lives everyone.
