YMCA Camp Nissokone has served our community for 102 years. Over the past three years our Teen Leadership program has grown rapidly; nearly tripling in size. We’ve grown so quickly that we no longer have a functional, usable space for this transformational program. Unfortunately, at this very moment Camp Nissokone’s largest single room sits empty- unfinished and unusable. With your help, we can change that.
Right now, Camp Nissokone needs your help.
A grant to renovate the Theatre has been selected for award from over 120 grant applications. The Theatre, the single largest building on camp, is so desperately in need of renovation that the lower level is unusable- even for storage. The primary challenge we need to address to make this space usable is adding proper ventilation and storm water drainage systems. Our vision for this lower level will serve as an area for planning trips, teaching leadership and debriefing for our Teen Leadership Programs. With funding, this wonderful lakeside space will also be fully furnished to double as a comfortable gathering area for families and overnight groups to to engage in conversation, strengthening relationships. Beyond its use as an indoor meeting space, the plans include renovation to the existing outdoor covered area immediately outside of the theatre basement, turning it into a conversation and fellowship area, with bistro style seating allowing campers to enjoy the picturesque lakeside setting and to appreciate the surrounding beauty.
Again, Nissokone HAS BEEN selected to receive this grant to complete this renovation... under two conditions: 1) we need to match the funding of $20,000 and 2) the renovation must be completed this calendar year.
Will you consider contributing to make this renovation possible? Your gift will be doubled by the matched grant funding we’ve been awarded. Without your help, this opportunity goes to waste. Our first grant report is due May 15, so we have less than five weeks to reach our goal. Help us make the magic of camp possible for thousands of children and families each year by donating today.
