I remember the first camp I ran in Pueblo Mountain Park. I was "trying out" this idea of creating a Nature Education Center in Pueblo Mountain Park by working very part-time for Pueblo Parks & Rec, developing some program ideas. I can't recall how many camps I ran that summer of 1999, but I know that we (my daugher Sierra, who had lots of camp experience and who facilitated the camps with me) and I ended the summer knowing that the park is a great place for camps. The campers we had that summer, who are all adults now, I am sure felt the same way. It wasn't long before MPEC grew out of that original idea, and now, nearly 20 years later, MPEC's summer camps come in a variety of flavors and continue to reach so many children with wonderful summer experiences in Nature. And, our philosophy of never turning away a child who wants to came to camp because of lack of money remains. And it has always been MPEC's supporters who make this possible. Please help us continue that tradition by donating to my Camp Scholarships fundraiser and help MPEC make more magical camp memories for lots more kids. Thanks so much, Ranger Dave

Mountain Park Environmental Center's mission is to serve our community and we are committed to connecting people to nature. As such, we believe that money should never be a reason for a child not to attend summer camp. Our summer camps are offered to students entering grades K-9 and offer a variety of age-appropriate activities including music, games and nature exploration for our younger kids, and teaching backpacking and nature survival skills to the older kids. Our camps range in price from $150 - $400. In 2015, we gave $8185 for partial or full scholarships to 45 campers. Please give to our scholarship program and help us keep our promise that no child will ever be turned away due to financial constraints.
