BENEFITING: MOUNTAIN PARK ENVIRONMENTAL ASSOCIATION
ORGANIZER: MOUNTAIN PARK ENVIRONMENTAL ASSOCIATION
As a youth, I had the oppurtunity to experience nature and all of the wonderful experiences it provided as a scout within the Boy Scouts of America. I was given the oppurtunity to spend many days fully focused on appreciating nature, interpreting the natural world around me, learning technical and Leadership skills, and so much more. I was absolutely intrigued by nature and outdoor recreation, an intrigue that went so far as to determine my focus of higher education, and eventually pushing me into a professional field of park and resource management. I fully appreciate the catalyst that pushed me towards my current passion for nature and helping people to connect with it. The 2016 Mountain Park Environmental Center Scholarship Fund is an oppurtunity to help support youth in the Pueblo area connect with nature, youth that are not as financially fortunate as I was. An oppurtunity to undertake challenges and educational experiences that could encourage them to be stewards of nature and appreciate the natural world and all of its translations into their everday lives. If you are unable to contribute to this cause monetarily, the Mountain Park Environmental Center is always looking for volunteers, and I would sure enjoy the company when maintaining trails and keeping the park hazard free this Spring and Summer!

Mountain Park Environmental Center's mission is to serve our community and we are committed to connecting people to nature. As such, we believe that money should never be a reason for a child not to attend summer camp. Our summer camps are offered to students entering grades K-9 and offer a variety of age-appropriate activities including music, games and nature exploration for our younger kids, and teaching backpacking and nature survival skills to the older kids. Our camps range in price from $150 - $400. In 2015, we gave $8185 for partial or full scholarships to 45 campers. Please give to our scholarship program and help us keep our promise that no child will ever be turned away due to financial constraints.
