EVENT: 2015 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 20, 2015
Two years ago I had surgery on my knee, and it's been a long road to recovery, both mentally and physically. I've decided to cross off the last item on my recovery list by participating in the Publix Georgia Marathon. This will be my first long-distance run since my surgery.
Every year, I've watched my friend David Chang (BC '16) run the Boston Marathon to raise money for Camp Harbor View, a summer camp that empowers youth in a fun, safe environment. This time, I'll be joining in his efforts to raise $7,500 to give other kids the same opportunity he had. Please consider donating if you feel inclined to, and thank you for all your support up to this point.
"This year, I have the privilege of running the Boston Marathon for Camp Harbor View. Growing up, I always had the privilege to go to summer camp and the experiences in camp are ones that I hold very dear. Camp helped shaped me to who I am now and provided life lessons such as confidence, teamwork, and friendship. It was a privilege that I was able to have and I need your help to make a difference in someone's life." - David Chang, Boston College '16

Camp Harbor View was founded in 2007 by the late Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino and businessman Jack Connors, Jr. to provide a fun, safe environment for youths ages 11 to 14 during the summer months. Now, the camp serves close to 900 campers and 65 15 to 17 year old Leaders in Training during the summer and year round. Our hope is to bring joy into each of the lives the camp touches and introduce the campers to new passions and skills they would not otherwise be aware of, striving to inspire them in their school years and beyond.
This year CHV, thanks to John Hancock, it hoping to raise $40,000 for program and occupational costs. We know that with the help of our friends and the community we can make this goal a reality!
