Life is about progress and growth - and community. Not many are aware I grew up one of 4 with a single mom working many jobs to ensure we had everything we needed. Life wasn't always easy, but she was smart and worked hard. And my family always supported each other.
In addition to my family's love and constant encouragement, I also had the benefit of a few kind souls helping me move out of poverty; going to college; then moving to NYC; helping me grow into who I am today. Because of this, I understand how important programs like CampInteractive are. I wouldn't be where I am today without them. We've all needed an extra hand from time to time, and CampInteractive works to do it better than most. The programs are solid and the team is incredible.
Now, I'm seeking more kind souls to push me further. This time not for my own benefit but to help others just like I was as a kid. This November, I'm honored to run on CampInteractive's behalf. This is a first for me in many ways. It's the first time I'm fundraising to run. I don't normally fundraise; it's not a skill of mine but I think this is important and can impact so many lives.
Also, while this is my fourth marathon, it's the first time I'm training properly. In fact I've trained more already than I ever have, just completing my first 12 mile training run July 22nd. With more than 3 months to go in my training, I'm hoping to beat my last marathon time by over an hour and finish under 4:30.
But I need your help to do all of this. Help me reach my fundraising goal of $3000 to ensure other kids that grew up just like me can acheive their dreams. If my friends can give just $25, we'll get there.
This is for:
1. Those that REALLY love me and want to see me succeed. Your $25 will motivate me to the finish line and keep me going when the runs are a little less than fun... Plus, once this is all over, I'll buy you a drink.
2. Those that don't quite know me yet and want to see how I respond under pressure. By donating $25, you'll get to know me quite well, as I'll be documenting the journey with my friend Heather. Plus, once this is all over, we can get to know each other better and swap stories over a drink.
3. Those that REALLY don't like me. What's better than seeing me suffer for 26.2 miles. Seriously, you're the one making me run it. $25 is a small price to pay me back for (insert forgetting your birthday, blowing you off, just being a pain in your arse, etc). Payback is a...
