As many of you know, I am passionate about working with children and vulnerable populations. The common thread through all of my work over the past decade has been about social equity & empowering communities with a move towards independence through sustainable solutions, education and economic opportunities.
I have been given the incredible opportunity to travel to Haiti this summer with Jacob’s Color Link Initiative as a counselor at campJacob, an annual summer camp designed to meet the special needs of handicapped children from the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.
For a full week, campJacob liberates campers from the limitations of their daily lives, which are restricted by a lack of accessibility, social stigma and limited funding for specialized equipment and facilities. The camp program provides life skills and self-care training in addition to fun activities that build confidence and inspire campers to pursue a life independent of charity. Please take a few moments to view our campJacob 2014 video found on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/jacobscolorlink)
I will be running a 10K on April 4, 2015 in the Crescent City Classic to raise funds for this organization. With your generous support, I am confident I can raise the $2,000.00 required for my participation. All donations to Jacob’s Color Link Initiative are tax deductible.
Thank you for your support!! I know that my work at campJacob this summer and after will contribute to the lives of these extraordinary youth and provide them the care and support they need to thrive as members of our world. I also have every intention of being part of this organization long-term, speaking to sustainability and building trust and accountability.
