Shaun Rice wrote -As some of you may or may not know, I lost my father at the age of 7. The loss of a parent is something that forever changes your life and everything you know about it. Having the opportunity to help children who have experienced a similar loss work through the grieving and healing process is what has driven me to volunteer as a counselor at Camp MAGIK this summer.
Each year in Georgia, thousands of children lose a parent. Unfortunately, there are few resources in place to help them deal with their situation. Unattended and unresolved grief in children can have serious consequences and thus sparked Dr. Rene Searles McClathey to start Camp MAGIK in 1995. There are 4 camps held each year in Georgia, all fully funded by donations and contributions from kind-hearted and caring people such as yourself. Camp MAGIK provides a safe and nurturing environment for bereaved children and their families to help them express grief over the death of a loved one and begin to heal.
At Camp MAGIK, $2,500 funds a cabin of five campers for the entire camping weekend. You can rest assured that your donation goes directly to helping these five campers enjoy a much needed weekend of healing and support. Now open up those pocket books and let's help make life a little better for these kids, if not just for a weekend, then maybe for a lifetime...
