Thanks for stopping by our page! We're a couple of friends who have known each other since middle school - for proof, please refer to the photo on the left.
These days, when we're not sporting butterfly face paint, we're spending a lot of time training for the 2015 Boston Marathon. We've been lucky enough to join the Camp Shriver marathon team, which means we have the opportunity to help an amazing organization by just jogging for a while on April 20th...like a really, really long while.
Camp Shriver is a children's sports camp that is in some ways ordinary - campers are ages 8-12 and activities include soccer, swimming, basketball, and more. But in many ways, Camp Shriver is extraordinary - half of the children have intellectual and developmental disabilities, half of the children do not, many are from low income families, and all attend camp for free. Camp Shriver’s mission is to use sports as a vehicle to bring children with and without disabilities together so that they have the opportunity to develop their motor and social skills, create positive peer relationships, and make new friends. We grew up playing sports and working at summer camps that catered to children with learning disabilities, so Camp Shriver’s cause is near and dear to us.
The camp is funded by the marathon team, which is what makes YOU such an important part of this equation!!! The two of us are looking to raise $15,000, and the team as a whole hopes to raise over $100,000! Any amount of money that you can spare would be incredibly helpful, and you can be confident that it's going toward a great cause.
We aim to please, so if there's anything specific we can do to secure a donation (a 2015 version of the butterfly face paint?!? Going once, going twice...), just let us know!
