New statistics show that 1 in 4 Canadians may be affected by liver disease with a large proportion being women. Liver diseases take a significant toll on women’s health – not only on women suffering with them but on women caring for children, spouses and parents with liver disease.
The liver safeguards the body in the same way that women safeguard the health of their families. The Canadian Liver Foundation brings liver research to life by funding research projects to help find treatments and cures for liver diseases affecting women of all ages while at the same time providing support to help women cope. Our patient support programs offer information and guidance to help them manage their own physical, mental and emotional health as well as that of their families while our Peer Network gives them the opportunity to connect with other women facing the same challenges.
