THE STORY:

Hi!

Thanks for taking time out of your day to visit my fundraising page.

This week is #MentalHealthWeek and on SUNDAY MAY 7th I'll be running as a Charity Runner for the Canadian Mental Health Association, in the BMO Run4Hope Marathon. (I'm not running the full marathon though!)
Mental Health has always been important to me, and I've been involved in various Mental Health Initiatives either as a volunteer, or fundraiser for many years. In Toronto I was very involved with Kids Help Phone, and throughout my time there I worked my way up to Chair of the Student Ambassador Council. When I moved to Vancouver I volunteered at a Women's shelter in the DTES. I am also a big supporter of the Soul Sister's Memorial Foundation from Westlock, Alberta, and volunteer at their annual event every September. More info on them at www.soulsistersmemorialfoundation.com if you'd like to see all the great things happening as a result of these ladies :)
As time has gone on, I now work with young children full-time and am very keen on making sure that the programs I am part of are supporting all of children's and families' needs, especially focusing on their social and emotional development. I am proud of the work that I do, and believe that having access to Mental Health resources and programs is incredibly valuable to participants.
The Canadian Mental Health Association provides support to both individuals and families, and all of their programs are offered to families at absolutely no cost for kids to participate. The services are provided to families, children and youth who live with mental illness. Their Child & Youth programs build resiliency by ensuring that participants have the opportunity to interact with trained, supportive adult role models, and by focusing on forming healthy attachments through ongoing acceptance and long-term participation. These programs increase the social networks of children, promote social skills development, and instil self-confidence.

If this resonates with you, please consider sponsoring my run!
