BENEFITING: National Foundation for Cancer Research
Every October organizations around the world such as the NBA, and the NFL celebrate Breast Cancer awareness month, but what really is the killer behind the 7.6 million people who die every year from cancer? Last year over 420 million US dollars was raised for Breast Cancer Awareness and research. Since 1982 when Susan G Komen was started this organization has raised over 6 billion US dollars. My goal is to raise awareness about the more lethal and dangerous cancers that have lower survival rates such as pancreatic cancer, lung and bronchial cancer, and many more. Pancreatic cancer has a survival rate of 7%, in most cases lung and bronchial cancers are caught late into the stages causing the cancer to spread at an extremely fast rate. The survival rate of this is 4%, compared to breast cancers survival rate of 78%. The ultimate goal for this fundraiser is to have other lethal cancers such as pancreatic, and lung cancers be recognized by worldwide companies like Breast Cancer, and hopefully one day find a cure, for all cancers. Our funding goal is nowhere near what is needed to find a cure, but hopefully with the help of everyone it is a start. Please try to remain open minded about this whole situation, I am in no way in any shape or form try to make Breast Cancer sound like it is not to be taken seriously. Thank you for your time.
