Attending CancerCon was the opportunity of a lifetime, and now I plan to participate every spring. For around three years I didn't have a support group of teenagers and young adults who were going through the same thing, and that became very isolating for me. I was scared of identifying myself with the cancer community and tried going back to the way things were before battling Hodgkin's Lymphoma. However, that didn't exactly work out... and I'm glad it didn't.
It's in our nature to need people we can relate to, and besides my mom, I didn't have anyone....until this conference. I made so many relationships that I truly believe will last a lifetime! CancerCon opened up a whole new world of information I didn't have prior, and I had the opportunity to visit a city that I've been hoping to see for years.
By donating to this fundraiser, not only are you helping me make the trip back to Colorado, but you are also helping hundreds of other young adult survivors and patients like me have the ability to attend this conference and receive vital resources and tools to help them have an easier time with survivorship and life with cancer.
