Canton Chamber of Commerce Donates!
April 13, 2017
The once beautiful fountain in Canton, NY's Village Park is no longer functional and falling apart. A volunteer committee is seeking public support to restore the structure and bring back the Village's central focal point to its former glory.
All donations given to the Canton Park & Fountain Fund are tax deductible. The ownership of the Park/Village Green is held by the Canton Presbyterian Church on the Park and the deed states that the space remain available to the public in perpetuity. The Village of Canton takes responsibility for maintenance of the area and structures, as well as paying for the insurance.
This park and fountain are utilized by many organizations and community members. We need all of their support to make this goal a reality! The fundraising committee has created a separate bank account for this campaign to ensure that 100% of the money raised goes directly to this endeavor.
The campaign has been coined, the Canton Park & Fountain Fund. The first $100,000 raised will be used on the fountain for a new pump, pipes, masonry, and restoration of the entire structure, as well as the surrounding area.
The next phase of the project will include the repair and update of the walking paths in the park. The last part of the campaign will be a $25,000 enhancement of the park's green space.
Donors who prefer to send a check rather than a credit card may send it payable to: The Canton Park & Fountain Fund 17 Park Street Canton, NY 13617.
