Rachel was born with a vein of galan malformation. She was in congestive heart failure and pulmonary hypertension at 10 days old. We didn't know. I took her to the pediatrician and we were immediately transported by ambulance to Blair E. Batson Children's Hospital. She was on a ventilator for 2 months. She had her first embolization within a few days. It wasn't enough. The picu docs were great. They pushed for more embolization and got Rachel stabelized. We didn't know all the deficitis she would have. Since then, Rachel has had multiple surgeries including brain, heart, and leg. Rachel is nonverbal, she can't walk, and has limited use of her left hand.
Ainsley's Angels has been such an awesome influence in not only Rachel's life, but, our lives as a family. They really make you feel like your not alone in this. But the family that you make when you become apart of such a great group of God's people that just love my little girl without conviction and this is probably one of the best feelings! I am so proud that Rachel is a Captain! And, I am so proud to be involved with such a caring organization!
