BENEFITING: MYTEAM TRIUMPH
AinsleysAngels.org is thrilled to help ensure Captain Taylor can soon ‘Roll With The Wind’ in her very own Freedom Push Chair (like the chair she is running in to the left) with her family and myTEAM Triumph: Ainsley’s Angels of Maryland friends.
A message from Taylor’s Mom:
Who doesn’t love the feel of wind on their face or yearn for the slight breeze that makes your skin tingle? Sometimes, Mother Nature does the work of providing the wind for us, but other times we have to make our own wind through movement. For most of us, it’s a pretty simple thing to do. We can go for a walk, jog, or a bike ride, but my lovely daughter, Taylor, can’t do those things. She has a rare genetic disorder called 18Q Deletion Syndrome. While this disorder affects each person differently, it leaves Taylor wheelchair bound, and unable to do anything for herself. Taylor loves being outside enjoying all the colors and sounds nature has to offer. From the smile on her face and her laughter when she has been on a carnival ride, it’s easy to see she loves to go fast and feel the wind in her face. With a jogger chair, she would get to enjoy the rush of the wind across her face and through her hair in a way she never could in her wheelchair. In a jogger chair she would get to experience a small slice of freedom that would bring her great joy. I don’t know who doesn’t love the feel of wind on their face, but I know that it bring Taylor an immense amount of happiness.
So, YES, YOU CAN, donate 10, 20 or 50 dollars right now to ensure the thrill of rolling with the wind and crossing a road race finish line!
With your generosity, we are certain this can happen soon! As the father of two very special girls that have raced together with me for years, I know that the positive energy surrounding the start line, the togetherness of every member preparing to "roll with the wind", the fearlessness of the athletes, the normalcy of the family, and the love we all have for each other is a therapy like no other.
