The Caracas International Jewish Film Festival came to light in 2007. The festival has managed to charm the public with films of recent production and high cinematographic value. Productions from the Middle East, Europe, Asia and Latin America make up their highly praised exhibitions. The main objective is to present to the public the many different sides and facets of the Jewish people and of Israel in as many forms and situations as possible: traditions, customs, and specially their experiences. Around 20,000 persons have attended our exhibitions in Caracas last year. Venezuela has one of the oldest Jewish communities of South America. Its cultural life has been emblematic. In difficult times like these it becomes more important than ever to keep activities that encourage reflection and creativity. Movies are one of the foremost and most effective instruments to understand our reality, and that of the whole world. To have the opportunity to show the Venezuelan public part of the rich Israeli and Jewish culture allows the Jewish community to let our fellow non-Jewish citizens know what we feel and think. The International Jewish Film Festival is well positioned in the cultural environment of our country. Each edition of the festival is well reviewed in the written media, as well as radio and television, web pages and social media. Many of the movies are well received by critics and the public. Finally, the festival deserves an eight edition and much more. It is being demanded by the public, Jewish and non-Jewish alike!
