Founded in 1987, Caracole was the first housing agency in the area for people living with HIV/ AIDS. The first unit housed four clients and was essentially a safe haven for individuals with an AIDS diagnosis to be cared for until they passed away. Since that time, the disease and the diagnosis have changed drastically. Caracole now provides direct care services and housing to people with HIV/AIDS and their families along a continuum of care which includes comprehensive housing programs as well as provides medical case management and pharmacy services to all eligible persons living with HIV/AIDS in the eight-county region and provides prevention services for the community. Caracole serves those living in Adams, Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton, Highland and Warren Counties in Southwest Ohio.
