THE STORY:

Everyone always wonders why my sister is 6 feet tall and I'm three years older but only 5 feet tall. The answer is Marfan Syndrome. Marfan Syndrome is a life-threatening genetic disorder that affects the body’s connective tissue. Because connective tissue is found throughout the body, Marfan syndrome can affect many different parts of the body including the heart, blood vessels, eyes, bones and joints (hence why my sister is so tall). Both my mom and my sister have Marfans and I am proud to be running the NYC Marathon in honor of them. All of the money raised will go to the Marfan Foundation to help to find a cure and advance research for treatments for people living with Marfans to help improve their quality of life and life span. Thank you so much for your support and donation (my mom and sister and everyone effected by Marfan Syndrome thank you as well)! <3 Cara
