Care for Aunt Katherine
Organized by: Gwenn Morgan
Aunt Katherine has devoted her life to caring for a variety of animals. From neighborhood deer, opposum, and raccoon to domesticated dogs and cats and even cows, chickens, and ducks back in her younger days. With no children and few remaining relatives, there aren't many people left to return the lifetime of care and compassion she has shown to the natural world. Her dementia and sun-downers syndrome is progressing and she needs care and companionship. Her home has become hardly hospitable for others but it is where she wishes to spend her final days. There is an in-law suite attached to her home that would be perfect for an overnight caretaker - if the ceiling hadn't been chewed out by rats. Her side of the house needs the carpets removed and replaced with something more sanitary. And taxes are coming due. So my mother and I are raising money to make her home more hospitable and to cover her extra expenses that are up and coming in her personal and medical care.
