The war in Syria has unleashed the world's largest humanitarian crisis since World War II. For more than four years, CARE has been providing life-saving relief to Syrians forced to leave their country. We've helped more than 1 million Syrians in Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon, Turkey and now Serbia. CARE was there before the news media arrived, and we'll be there after they're gone.
Most Syrian refugees don't live in camps and can't make it to Europe. Most of them are living in urban areas of the countries that surround Syria. Unable to work legally or send their children to school, and unsure if or when they'll ever be able to return to Syria, they rely on relief efforts from CARE and other aid groups to survive.
CARE was founded in 1945 to rush lifesaving CARE Packages® to survivors of World War II. Today CARE is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. We deliver emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives. We also place special focus on working alongside poor women because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty. Your gift to CARE will support CARE's work to provide emergency relief to Syrian refugees in need and people like them around the world.
