THE STORY:
Shamim Memon is a father in India who supports his family on $150 a month. He hopes to someday have a car of his own so he can get work as a driver for the major hotels in Mumbai. As it is, he gets the jobs but has to use a rental car and loses most of his profit. If he has enough for a down payment on a nice used car he has the opportunity to find more work. The hotels love him and would like to use him more but his lack of a car of his own has held him back and kept his family in poverty. I met Shamim when I was working in Mumbai and needed a reliable driver who spoke very good English. My hotel referred me to him and I got to know him well. I would like to be able to give him a small helping hand that could turn his life around and that of his wife and two teen-aged children.
I am asking all my friends to become a Friend Without Borders and give to this campaign. All proceeds go directly to this family. In five years his children will be college ready so ideas for helping them with scholarships are also welcome.
