Car for Lia
Organized by: Lia Pearson
Since the age of 15, Lia has lived independently. She has faced great feats in her short time so far, including facing hard diagnoses such as colitis, fibromyalgia, arithritis, and many more. Through all of it though, she remained strong and stuck to her goals. One of her major goals included getting a car. After many many months of hard work and dedication, she finally had enough money saved up to get herself a car. It wasnt the nicest car out there, but it got her from place to place. Her 1997 toyota camry was the symbol of her independence. It meant she would be able to make it to all of her doctors appointments, and even go places for fun. All was good until august 11th. Her cousin was scheduled for a brain surgery to remove a tumor from her brain. Being a family orientented person, Lia drove out to Erie to support her cousin during this hard time. While on the way back from the hospital, her car collided with an 18 wheeler semi, who was traveling quite fast for the area. Luckily, she only suffered from minor injuries- injuries that will heal with time. But one thing that will not heal, and the thing she sufferred most was the loss of her independence. I know that is what meant the most to her. So lets come together as a community, and as friends to help her regain what she had worked so very hard for!
