So close to one ear!

Claire the 8 year old Cocker Spaniel has suffered from constant ear infections. We are raising the funds to pay for a Total Ear Canal Ablation to help Claire feel better. The total for this surgery will cost $3,700. We are raising additional funds for our Guardian Angel Fund so we can help other special cases without having to ask the community
"Hi everybody! My name is Claire and I need your help. You see, I'm 8 years old and my ears hurt badly from constant ear infections. I'm so happy to be at SICSA Pet Adoption Center even though they poke and prod at my ears a lot. I have trouble hearing them but I know they are going to help me. They mentioned something about a Total Ear Canal Ablation, and that scares me, but the nice ladies in the vet clinic have assured me that I'll feel better once its done. My ears are so stinky from all the infections and I'm self-conscious about it, but I know that's going to all go away once I have my surgery. Can you help me raise the funds to feel better? All I want is to find a home, with a nice comfy place to sleep and a big backyard to run around in. Please help me feel better!"
A Total Ear Canal Ablation (TECA) is a procedure that removes the vertical and horizontal ear canals down to the level of the middle ear. Claire has ceruminous gland hyperplasia, a condition common in Cocker Spaniels. It results in thickening of the ear canals, which in turn leads to chronic infections and pain. Claire’s case is severe and progressive, and the only way to resolve the ongoing infections is to remove the ear canal completely. Because we have no history about Claire before arriving at SICSA, it is hard to know how long she has had suffered with this condition. Although this procedure will leave Claire deaf we believe that it will improve her overall quality of life and allow her to not be in constant pain. Please help us to give an otherwise healthy and loving dog a second chance!
The Guardian Angel Fund makes miracles happen. Homeless animals with special needs are too often the ones left behind. The time, cost of care, and resources required can make it very difficult for most shelters to care for the ones who need it the most. SICSA's Guardian Angel Fund specifically helps adoptable animals become adoptable, with the generous help from people like you in our community. These animals are worthy of our help and love, and SICSA gives them another chance at finding a loving, forever home.
