"It's easier and wiser to raise a happy, healthy child than to repair a broken adult." - Christina Bublick
Caring for Kids has been evolving in Cape May County since 1995. With a focus on strengthening families and preventing maltreatment, services across the years have included various family support activities for children and parents. Hundreds of families have been served.
Caring for Kids utilizes the national Parents as Teachers (PAT) home visitation program, and is proud to be the state's very first Blue Ribbon Affiliate, having earned the PAT Quality Endorsement in October 2015. This endorsement affirms fidelity to the Parents as Teachers model and services of the highest quality.
We use an evidence-based, home visitation model that pairs trained Parent Educators with pregnant women, single moms and dads, foster parents and primary care givers. The Parents as Teachers model has four dynamic components: Personal visits, group connections, child screenings, and a resource network. Together, these components create a cohesive package of services for families with young children, working toward family self-sufficiency.
- Increase parent knowledge of early childhood development and improve parenting practices
- Provide early detection of developmental delays and health issues
- Prevent child abuse and neglect
- Increase children's school readiness and school success
