Serving children and strengthening families has been Caring People Alliance's mission for over 75 years. We empower Philadelphia children and youth to become positive citizens, decision-makers and leaders by providing them, their families and their elders with high quality, community-based programs and services that promote character building, educational achievement, healthy lifestyles and teamwork.
Founded in 1932 by Philadelphia philanthropist Samuel S. Fels and District Attorney Charles Edwin Fox as Crime Prevention Association, the original mission of the organization was to provide productive activities for Philadelphia’s young men who were unemployed during the Great Depression. While our services have greatly expanded since those early days, we have stayed true to the founding vision of providing services to assure that Philadelphia’s youth have the support and resources they need to develop into productive citizens. In 2001, we changed our name to Caring People Alliance to more accurately reflect the current scope of our programs and services.
Caring People Alliance, an affiliate of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, is one of the Philadelphia region's most comprehensive human service agencies. Our primary focus is on children and youth and the matters that most affect them. As such, we also nurture their support system - both families and older adults. We offer a wide range of programs and services through our two Community Centers, school and community-based sites, Marconi Older Adults program, caring PAws Humane Education and Animal Assisted Therapy program, Treatment Foster Care, and Child Care Information Services.
