I only thought I understood and knew about postpartum depression (PPD).
I was wrong. Very wrong.
I recently watched the Netflix documentary "When the Bough Breaks" and became acutely aware that my daughter Lauren had suffered from PPD and I didn't even recognize it at the time of the birth of her daughter and our first granddaughter Maryn.
I had my suspicions, but until watching the documentary I just wasn't sure. Now, we re certain.
That being said, I want to stand in support of not only my daughter, but all women with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders of any kind!! There are so many women who have been able to climb out of the darkness and there are others still climbing. Sadly, there are some who have even lost the battle.
Since I thoroughly enjoy walking, hiking, biking, and climbing I thought this would be one great way to show my support.
Please consider donating to Climb Out of the Darkness 2017.
If you cannot donate right now I completely understand, but please try to watch the documentary if you have the opportunity. You might be shocked to find out some things about PPD that you never knew...just like me.
