BENEFITING: NATIONAL EATING DISORDERS ASSOCIATION
EVENT DATE: Jul 15, 2015
Hi friends. I am turning 21 this Wednesday, July 1st. Woot woot!
Instead of ringing up a huge tab at the bar or hosting a blowout bash, this year I'm keeping it simple. I know what you're thinking... But you only turn 21 once! Yes, and that's exactly why I want to make it count.
For the past four years, I have been in recovery from an eating disorder. Eating disorders are life-threatening diseases. They destroy the body, eat at the mind and ravage families. But there is hope. Through the grace of God, I am reminded on my birthday that I've been given the greatest gift of all: life. This year for my birthday, I am requesting 21 dollars from each of my friends, one for each year of my life, to support an organization close to my heart.
The National Eating Disorders Association( NEDA) is a non-profit organization in the United States advocating on behalf of and supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders. Through their efforts, they are able to reach millions each year and campaign for prevention, improved access to quality treatment, and increased research funding to better understand and treat eating disorders.
$50 sends educator toolkits and information packets to 2 schools
$100 supports one educational webinar
$500 sponsors a NEDA Conference Scholarship for one family member or student
$1000 provides one full day of vital helpline services
Why am I fundraising? I fundraise because of all the gifts I've been given in my own recovery and the gifts I have yet to receive. No, I don't mean physical gifts. I mean my recovery family, my peace of mind, I mean one day being able to have cake and not think twice about it. It's because of organizations like NEDA that thousands of people like me can live to see more birthdays. We all know someone. Help me make a difference by giving 21 for my 21st! Thank you :)
Submission deadline: July 15 2015
** Please give only what you can. Thank you.
