This fundraiser was created to raise awareness and funds for an incurable medical condition called Hydrocephalus.
My name is Shane Moncrief and on Sunday, March 16 I will be running the the NYC Half Marathon. This will be my sixth half marathon to date and I thought to myself, why not make this one more meaningful. I am glad to say that I have teamed up with Carli's Angels to help raise funds and awareness for the medical condition called Hydrocephalus. The pain and fatigue that I will endure during the half marathon is not comparable to the stress, pain and fatigue that children, like Carli, endure daily with this condition.
Please help me raise money for research and awareness against Hydrocephalus and one day we can finally find a cure!
Hydrocephalus means “water on the brain.”
A young girl from New York named Carli has had Hydrocephalus all her life. There is no cure for this illness, just a set of treatments. These treatments mostly include brain surgery to insert a “shunt” in an effort to move the fluid away from the brain. Carli had her first surgery at just 5 months old. and sadly these treatments have not ended. She has had close to 50 surgeries and counting since her original shunt placement.
Hydrocephalus is an incurable illness and Carli’s Angels is working to help raise awareness and raise funds to find a cure. ALL funds raised are sent directly to organizations, like the Pediatric Hydrocephalus Foundation, in an effort to help those in need, fund research and drive awareness.
