When you donate to the CARLS FAMILY YMCA you make KENSINGTON VALLEY COMMUNITY better through programs focused on:
Summer Day Camp: $250 provides 1 week of day camp
Day camp at the Y helps kids form new friendships, strengthen confidence and sharpen character. The Y is also working to close the achievement gap and reverse the trend of summer learning loss throughout Metro Detroit by including educational programs into all of our summer day camps. However, not all children have access to enriching summer experiences. The Y raises funds so everyone, regardless of income or background, has the ability to learn, grow and thrive at camp.
Girls on the Run/STRIDE: $150 provides 1 child GOTR/STRIDE registration
These afterschool programs use the power of running to help prepare youth for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living with interactive activities such as running, playing games and meaningful discussions culminating in a 5K run. Youth in third through eighth grades learn a greater self-awareness, a sense of achievement and team building skills to help them become strong and self-confident. The Y believes that every child should have the opportunity to participate. Scholarships are awarded so that no child is turned away due to inability to pay.
First Responders: $1000 provides wellness for a personal responder
Obesity, ongoing stress and PTSD take a toll on the health of first responders, whose average life span is 16 to 18 years less than the national average. Your investment will provide a three month wellness program that will help local firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel and 9-1-1 dispatchers improve their fitness levels enough to meet or exceed their physical and emotional job requirements. First responders’ families, many of whom also suffer ongoing acute stress, will also participate in the program.
Every dollar donated to the CARLS FAMILY YMCA has a lasting impact on the people of KENSINGTON VALLEY COMMUNITY. Give today for a better us
