My brother Carl has lived at our family home in Jackson, MS for 42 of his 56 years. He has never left. He has mental disablilities. Our father died when he was six years old and my mother did her best for the next 40 plus years. She died three years ago and left me her mortgage and credit card debt. I am keeping up with the mortgage, but I can't afford to make repairs to the house.Thank God I have a wonderful friend who lives close by and checks on him and brings him meals almost every day.
I want to fix the house, sell it build him a small home (cabin)
close to me, so I can take care of him and his closest friends, Missy (dog) and Fred (parrot). Carl is the most innocent, uncorrupted person I know. He only thinks about others feelings and his pets. He has not had a good life and he deserves better. I have three kids and four grand children I take care of so I am financially strapped.
He doesn't fee safe in his neighborhood. He has been robbed at gunpoint and is scared to go outside. He calls everyday asking when I can afford
to fix the house up so he can come live near me. My house is full of grandchildren that we take care of
or he could live here. I don't want to build any thing fancy. He just needs a place where he and his pets are safe and can work in his yard. I will still have to borrow more money to accomplish these goals, but the first step
is to fix up the family home and sell it.
If I sold it as is I would lose money. At least for now he has a roof over his head. Carl, Missy, Fred and myself would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you!
