Mr. Weible SAYS:
To the wonderful supporters …
To the wonderful supporters of the Chopin School orchestra:

You have donated to our program -- and for that, we cannot thank you enough. You helped us raise nearly $25,000 since we began this major fundraising effort last September.

It was an incredible accomplishment that you made possible.

Would you be willing to make your donation an annual event? We know it is a lot to ask, but having annual donors will be key in helping us sustain and grow the program.

You can donate here:

We also wanted to update you on what's happening at Chopin:

In addition to keeping the program going -- which you helped us do! -- we've made two major additions to our String Orchestra program.

First, we're adding double bass instruction to our curriculum. The double bass is an integral piece of the string orchestra. Adding this facet allows the full timbre of the orchestra to be heard. The students who take on this challenge also will have the advantage of playing a highly sought-after instrument in selective enrollment high school orchestras as well as scholarship opportunities in college.

But our really big news is the addition of private lessons for 37 of our students in the orchestra. Private lessons have been the missing piece in our curriculum for far too long. The Merit School of Music, our partner, has had success receiving a grant large enough to fund this key piece to our program. Not only will these 37 students receive the private lessons, they will be during the school day. This way, these students do not have to miss any of our orchestra classes after school. They continue their hard work in sectionals or full orchestra rehearsal, but now with the additional benefit of one-on-one instruction to augment their already blossoming talents.

There is little doubt that your funding -- and your belief is us -- has led to more good things happening for us.

So again, please consider becoming an annual donor to help make sure the music never stops.

If you've been watching the news, you know that a program that keeps Chicago kids engaged and off the streets is more important than ever.

Please stay tuned for further updates, including our upcoming concert in December. You won't believe your ears!

With unending gratitude from,

Arturs Weible, Orchestral Director, and the students and volunteers at the Chopin School

Dear wonderful people who've donated to the Chopin Orchestra in Chicago:

We have three things to share with you (one of them a request).

1. Because of you, we have made incredible progress in less than three months -- nearly $14,000 in donations.

That puts us a third of the way to our goal. How amazing is that!

Today, also known as #GivingTuesday, we are asking you for a favor.

Would you be so very kind to let your friends, colleagues and family know about our cause?

It's as simple as sharing a brief note with this link:

Our advisors at Crowdrise says direct requests by email often work best. But Facebook and Twitter are great, too.

Again, we thank you for helping us get this far. The students are truly amazed at the support. It's not something they're always used to.

2. We have two concerts coming up and wanted to invite you if you are in the Chicago area.

On Monday, Dec. 7, we will be at the Christkindlmarket in downtown Chicago at Daley Plaza to play a lunchtime concert outside.

Then on Wed., Dec. 16, we will play at our school's Fine Arts Celebration. It starts with a gallery walk of student artwork from 4:00 to 4:45 p.m. We will then play in the school auditorium from 4:45 to 5:15 p.m. and then we close with a raffle for students with various Fine Arts themed items. Admission is free. The school address is 2450 W. Rice St. (but the main entrance is on the Iowa St. side). Please let us know if you can attend. You'll also need to check in with security at the main entrance before entering the auditorium.

3. If you haven't seen this already, please view this special video that the students made for you to express their gratitude:

We hope it conveys to you how much you mean to us. You really are helping change lives for the better!
