As the official sports fundraising platform of the National Foundation for Cancer Research, Play4TheCure asks individual athletes and teams “Who do you Play 4?” To answer our own question: It’s not just about one color ribbon, we play for ALL CANCERS, ALL COLORS, ALL SPORTS.
Our Play For Trey event is an ORANGE OUT to show support for Leukemia, and also accented with GOLD. This year the YCP Field Hockey, Women's Soccer, and Men's Soccer teams will all be holding their ORANGE OUT on Saturday, October 24th during their home contests. T-shirts will be sold for $10. We will also be collecting new toys/children activities which will be donated to the Hershey Children's Hospital. Art activities, coloring books, games, puzzles, legos, playdough, etc. for the children to do while receiving treatment are great donations.
York College of PA has a special connection to Trey. Before his diagnosis he was already a huge Spartan supporter through his Aunt Carly who is the head field hockey coach. Upon Trey's diagnosis YCPFH stood behind in support of Trey and always let him know he as not fighting alone. Other sports at YCP also jumped on board and strated spreading the support for Trey's battle with Leukemia. Trey was diagnosed in May of 2014 and after many months of treatment, Trey had a bone marrow transplant in February of 2015. His donor was his 7 year old brother, Chase. Trey was released from the hospital to go home in May of 2015, just after his 4th birthday. Trey is currently doing great and able to enjoy all the wonderful things of being an energetic, curious, and fun four year old boy. YCP continues to support Trey through his journey and support other children fighting battles with cancer.
