I came across the story of Pat Tillman when I was 12 years old. Even at that age, his sacrifice, selflessness, and willingness to help others in the face ofhis own attainable fame and fortune struck me profoundly. He has been a personal hero of mine ever since. I have written speeches about him, frames his Sports Illustrated cover for my wall, and ordered a Pat's run shirt the past several years, despite not being able to participate. Most people I mention the name to, have no knowledge of the name or the story. To be in a city that is putting on a shadow run, and allowing me to spread a bit of his story and his families efforts to raise money to help other intelligent and selfless individuals in the future, is a great honor.
