BENEFITING: FRIENDS OF GUATEMALAN CHILDREN INC
My name is Carmen Pemsler, and I am originally from Guatemala City, Guatemala. For the first few years of my life I lived in a small orphanage. At the age of two I was adopted by a couple from the United States. If it weren't for my parents adopting me my life would be incredibly different. I may not have had the oppurtunity to attend college and major in Civil Engineering. I definitely would not have been able to travel all over the United States to compete in chess tournaments. And lastly, I don't think that I would have had the love and support that my adoptive family continue to give me. Words cannot describe how lucky I feel!
Unfortunately, many children do not have the same luck as me. One statistic that I learned from the Friends of Guatemalan Children Inc was that, " in Guatemala only 30% of children finish elementary school."
Casa Guatemala gives the education, shelter, love, and health care that every child deserves. It is a home to children that were either abandoned, living in poverty, or abused. The organization also provides Summer schooling, clinics, and training in agriculture.
I may have been one of these Guatemalan children, and for that reason, this project is incredibly important to me. It has been my dream to go back to Guatemala and help orphanages in any way I can. This small fundraiser is just one baby step towards my dream. For more information please go to Casa Guatemala's website:

Thank you so much for donation! It truly means the world to me, and means much more to the children living in Casa Guatemala.
