BENEFITING: The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
The Boston Marathon is more than just a race. It is a day when a community, filled with unconditional support for one another, is fostered by an entire city. As a Bostonian I grew up as a member of the Marathon Monday community, showering strangers with encouragement and love as they raced to the finish.
As a marketer working in the healthcare field, I have been given the privilege to become a supporter of another special community – those suffering from rare and serious illnesses. Every day the children and their families within this community fight for the possibility of healing their diseases, and I want to do more to help enrich their lives.
I am excited to combine my support of these two communities by joining the 2017 Boston Marathon charity running team benefiting The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. Founded in 1988 by Paul Newman, the Camp provides "a different kind of healing" to more than 25,000 seriously ill children and family members annually - all completely free of charge. The camp enables seriously ill children the chance to forget about their disease and focus on being a kid during a 7-week summer camp. Additionally, the camp brings activities, such as arts and crafts and interactive games, to children in hospitals from Philadelphia to Boston throughout the year.
On April 17, 2017, I will run the historic 26.2 mile Boston Marathon, but together, through your generous donations, we can help bring this unique healing experience to children and their families. Any amount you can give will help me reach my fundraising goal. Thank you for your support!
