BENEFITING: THAT MAN MAY SEE INC
George B. Carpenter Elementary School is trying to raise money to put a well in northern Ethiopia. With your help, we hope to make this a reality. So many people in the world go without access to clean water and that doesn't need to be the case. With just a little money from a bunch of people, we could help a community survive through one of the worst droughts in Ethiopia's history.
Without water, many people are more susceptible to diseases and death. Walking to get water is often seen as women's work so girls often times miss out on an education because they have to walk for hours to get to clean water.
Providing water to a community will change lives. There is no doubt about it. Please help us reach our goal. We hope every student will raise at least $35. For those of you who are visiting this page and do not have a student at Carpenter, please consider donating $10 or $20 (or more!) to help cover a portion of a student's goal. This is a situation where every little bit helps!
Our donations are going to That Man May See, which is the non-profit organization that collects donations for the Proctor Foundation. The Proctor Foundation is a research unit out of University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Jeremy Keenan is conducting a study in Ethiopia that involves putting in several interventions with the hopes of seeing a decrease in the amount of illnesses. One of the infections he is focusing on is trachoma, which is the leading infectious cause of preventable blindness in the world. By putting in wells, Dr. Keenan hopes that people will be able to use water not only for drinking and cooking but also for cleaning so that the spread of infectious diseases could be eliminated.
Please consider helping us reach our goal of $15,000.
