Almost 2 years ago, our mother, Roseanne Dupree, (Rosie) was diagnosed with Lung Cancer, Stage IV. She underwent invasive surgery to remove 3 large tumors on her lung, plus 3 lymphnodes that were also cancerous. She received the most aggressive treatment of chemotherapy and radiation together. Shortly after this treatment, she was told that the cancer had won and they would do what they could to keep her alive as long as possible. Apparently, this prognosis did not sit well with Rosie and she decided to fight. On the same day that she received the news that her older brother suddenly passed away, within 30 minutes, she received news that there was no cancer in her body. A miracle? We believe so...and we want to honor our mother and this miracle and keep fighting to keep her alive by paying it forward and contributing to Lung Cancer research. My younger brother, Gerard, and I, are running a half marathon, The Mini Myrtle Beach Marathon, http://www.runmyrtlebeach.com in honor of our mother Rosie and her fight against Lung Cancer. This project is our fundraiser for the half marathon. The CARS is Rosie's favorite band and quite simply it works perfectly for our project name because we are CHILDREN ADVOCATING for ROSIE'S SURVIVAL. Donations go to http://unitingagainstlungcancer.org Rosie continues to receive ongoing chemotherapy to keep the cancer away. We want her to have her normal life back! Thank you to everyone who has been a constant source of support, love, inspiration and hope to our mother. She is a fighter, but her fight, the fire inside her, gets fuel from all of the love she receives on daily basis. We believe in the unbelievable and we will never stop fighting!!!! xo "It's MAGIC when I'm with you!"- The Cars
