BENEFITING: NAMI LEXINGTON KY INC
Mental illness is the leading cause of disability in the United States, Europe, and exceedingly the rest of the world. 1 in 5 Americans live with a diagnosable mental illness or will experience one in their lifetime. From substance abuse to depression to anxiety to eating disorders and ADHD, chances are you or someone you know has been affected by a mental illness.
On October 8th, I will be running 26.2 miles during the 2017 Chicago Marathon in honor of those I have lost to the disabling effects of mental illness, to my friends and family currently suffering from a mental health issue, and most importantly in support of ending the stigma surrounding mental health. Stigma erodes the confidence that mental disorders are real, treatable health conditions. We have allowed stigma and a now unwarranted sense of hopelessness to build barriers to effective treatment and recovery.
Please help me reach my goal of donating $1,000 to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Lexington, KY chapter by choosing the 'DONATE' button on this page. NAMI is the nation's largest grassroots organization that represents and supports people and families affected by mental illness. NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, and research, and offers support and education programs for families and individuals living with mental health conditions.

I am forever indebted to your kindness! Your support ensures that no one is in this fight alone.
"At the root of this dilemma is the way we view mental health in this country. Whether an illness affects your heart, your leg, or your brain, it's still an illness and there should be no distinction."
